About Ian

Ian Shepard BSc BPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Originally from Dartmouth, NS, Ian graduated from the University Of South Australia in 2004 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science. He recently moved back to the Maritimes to raise his family after spending the past ten years working in private practice in Vancouver, BC. While there, he was able to develop his love of teaching, assisting with the manual therapy component of the physiotherapy program at the University of British Columbia.

Over his career, he has pursued numerous additional courses both conventional and innovative that guide his practice. Most recently was vestibular rehabilitation and concussion management. Ian has also been certified to practice acupuncture by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. He has taken multiple manual therapy courses, including the Mulligan concept, Kinesio taping, minimal lever osteopathy techniques, and pain sciences with David Butler. This combination of both manual techniques and a deep understanding of chronic pain management help him guide his patients on their road to recovery. Ian’s philosophy is to use the latest evidence based techniques while at the same time empowering clients through knowledge and support with the goal of self management and health promotion. He enjoys treating all conditions at any age, and has a strong interest in osteoarthritis, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, and sports injuries. Outside of the clinic Ian loves spending time with his wife and two amazing young daughters, playing hockey, hiking, camping and playing the guitar.
